First Light - Official Selection
Shot by Elaine Melo. It is difficult to describe how honored, lucky and thankful I felt when I was offered to capture and witness the splendour and the beauty of this very moment where a human leaves the safety of the maternal womb to enter our world. In the middle of the chaos that surrounds us, let us stop one minute to contemplate the beauty of this journey, of the beginning of life, of the genesis of every human, of the origin of us all. Our Review: It is an amazing shot. it must have been tough to capture this at the right moment. Kudos to the photographer. The color tone selected for this picture is also great.
Activism - Official Selection
Shot by Amir Farhoud. This series of pictures are taken during the pandemic in 2021 representing different types of activism. The goal is to show how people in a modern society still care about humanity and nothing can stop them raising their voices and their issues. The reason why these pictures are taken in Black & White is that colours might distract the audience as the meaning behind the project is more important and this helps to convey the message in a better way. Our Review: All the black and white shots have come out beautifully. The picture shows how so many people stand up for humanity, diversity and inclusion. The picture conveys the story.
United colors - Official Selection
Shot by Elaine Cristina Melo. The diversity in mankind. The beauty of our differences. A metaphorical photographic representation of racial tolerance. Our review: We liked the message this shot is conveying more than its color and composition. It is amazing how in one picture you can convey a beautiful message of diversity and unity.
Frozen Chaos - Winner
Shot by Lukas Atzert -
This shot shows a frozen lake in Bavaria - Germany called "Eibsee". It was taken at a 120m height with the camera tilted down at a 90° angle. The pattern of the frozen ice is probably the result of trapped air that was slowly released by submerged plants at the bottom of the lake. Winds might have also played a role in forming the pattern on the ice surface. It is clear that nature itself - and not no human intervention - created this beautiful abstract pattern. If one does not know that this picture was taken at a height of 120m, one might mistake the picture for a macro shot showing the inside of a cell or something similar.
Our Review - This is a superb aerial shot showing the frozen lake. We thought it was a microscopic image too when we first saw it. When we read the description, it changed our perspective completely. Splendid shot!
Artist Biography -
29 years old. self thought photographer and loving what I do. I am excited about nature and its complexity. I believe that our planet is an extraordinary creation of God and we should preserve it.

Life is about creating moments or being in the moment. My goal is to inspire those that view my photography and to show the beauty in everything and everyone. My subject matter ranges from the CEO all the way down to the intern. Everyone is just as important making the machine work. So why not promote and highlight everyone. I want my work to say it’s okay to be a custodian or stay at home mom or dad. There’s beauty in that and it is not showcased enough. Placing these pictures in black and white just adds an extra element of realness to the moment I am creating.

At the Pink Planet - Winner
Shot by Yevhen Samuchenko -
"The first time you see the pink salt lakes of the Kherson region in Ukraine it feels as though you are looking at another planet. During the summer months, microscopic algae causes the water to turn pink and red. The view from above is literally out of this world, which is why I chose to use a drone to convey the atmosphere of this unusual place. The second side of this project is the story of borders. Those boundaries and comfort zone, to which a person becomes a slave. How to go beyond? Find the answer here."
