Our Review:
“A Rag picker to a National Junior Cricket team player” is like a dream everyone would wish to come true. ‘Mera Daddu’ is a perfect script for a short film.. Hope is a powerful tool. It leads us to do the impossible and helps us carry on even when there is hopelessness all around. And hope can come in many different forms and not always through an angel with a magic wand. The one who always keeps the fire of hope burning within; will always find the light at the end of the tunnel. There are kids like Aslam all around the world, but how many are lucky to have a daddu (grandpa) like him? This short film script can be both entertaining and educational but definitely packed with deep emotion which is a powerful mix and can expand one’s life by expanding one’s awareness.

Writer Statement
This story is very close to my heart and comes from a place of compassion for poor children in India and other developing nations who live in landfills to pick out plastic, glass, aluminum and paper from huge rotting landfills. These children work in hazardous environments, know no other skill and are abused at an early age. Through this story, I hope to bring awareness to their lives and urge corporates to sponsor vocational training programs to provide a skill and education to bring them out of poverty.
