Director Statement

Why i made this film Looking at my grandfathers corpse for the last time through the glass panel of the coffin, lots of emotional thoughts rushed through my head. The pearl placed on his lips caught my attention. The undertaker calmly explained that the purpose of the pearl is light the way and to ensure my grandfather does not loose his way. Then i realized, that i know nothing about the process and culture behind the undertakers profession, and i wanted to show the missing link we never see between a persons death, to the moment he is presented to the family members. This event inspired me to make the film. I wanted to tell a story that educate people on the process and hopefully make them feel that the culture and process intertwined is to help us mourn on our loved ones, help us move on in life, and the importance of going through it, when someone close to us inevitably dies. This processes is important not only for the dead, but actually, more for the living.
